Our fast-moving digital world, where the possessions we once held onto are now either virtual or gone in an instant, has transformed our lives forever. Always at the forefront of future thinking, Swarovski’s landmark exhibition Digital Crystal explores this idea with some of our most visionary creatives. For the show’s premier at London’s Design Museum last year, iconic names of the likes of Ron Arad challenged and inspired alongside cutting-edge talents such as Semiconductor. This year Swarovski takes the concept to Beijing Design Week with an exhibition that launches major new commissions from some of China’s most brilliant designers. Designed by celebrated Beijing architect, Ma Yansong of MAD Architects, and curated by the impossibly cool co-founder of Perfect Crossovers, Jérôme Sans, Swarovski Digital Crystal has asked Naihan Li, Liu Feng, Ma Yansong, Shi Jianmin, and Song Tao to introduce their own unique vision. The result is breathtaking one simply astonishing, as they push the boundaries of design, art, and architecture to question and illuminate how perspectives and behavior have been influenced by the digital age.
