July is all about the visual, the cerebral, and the aesthetic. There’s very little that demonstrates this better than Jean Paul Gaultier’s dazzling crystal-bestrewn Haute Couture, presented at the Fall/Winter 2013/14 show in Paris. Then there are eclectic pieces from Polish accessories brand, Motyle, along with unique couture jewelry made with the astonishing new Crystalactite cut by Parisian couture collective, Maison Martin Margiela.
We also have Perspectives, British architect/sculptor John Pawson’s installation at the Biennale. Add to that the glamour associated with the ‘Oscars of the fashion industry’—the US CFDA Awards, and the world-famous Blackpool Dance Festival glitter fest. Mix in Spanish brand Bronces Mestre’s exquisite decorative interior fittings, and learn from Kent Wong’s take on retailing in China, and you have a truly international issue.
