Haute couture super-talent, Georges Hobeika, brought his customary fashion finesse and high-style drama to his Spring/Summer 2013 collection.
Having shown at Paris Fashion week since 2001, and with an atelier on the rue Royale since 2010, Lebanese couturier Georges Hobeika has more than proved that he’s a serious talent to watch—a fact endorsed wholeheartedly by Diane Kruger, Jennifer Lopez, Eva Longoria, and Hilary Swank, who have all dazzled in his creations.
His latest collection is a display of perfectly pretty modern elegance, ablaze with SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS. Ladylike dressing has gained serious momentum over the last couple of years, and with pieces like these it’s hard to not succumb to its high-class appeal. Hobeika opened with the sweetest chalk-white, softly peplummed top with crystal Peter Pan collar and buttons, worn with a matching pencil skirt and white stilettos. Then a sheer boat-neck, waisted tunic was paired with vibrantly patterned cropped pants, evoking the chicest Sixties poolside party flavor. As he moved his woman through the day into evening, cocktail dresses included flirty millefeuille skirts with a softly blown-out floral print; elegant slash-neck shifts in delicate nude organza and lace, bolded up with darling blue flower crystal motifs; and super-chic white sweetheart neckline dress with sheer sleeves covered in the prettiest crystal embellishment.
For any leading lady wanting to make a show-stopping entrance, his sweeping floor-length gowns will put most other starlets in the shade. Hobeika blended the demure with the dramatic in his round-neck, pale pink gown, balancing the peek-a-boo frisson of its sheer crystal-embellished bodice with a flowing skirt, with pockets to give the look just enough of a modern edge. (Pockets in evening wear? Brilliant!) His strapless emerald green maxi, finished off with a dramatic crystal-and-sequin-embellished fishtail hem, was high-octane fashion gold. Expect to see these gems on a red carpet soon.
