We live in interesting times, with society the world over in a state of flux. However, SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS’ trend experts have spotted a promising shift in mood. There’s a move afoot to reject globalization, reflected in a growing alarm at the disappearance of cultural diversity and national identity, and increasing opposition to the worldwide effects of mass production.
The counter-trend noted by the trend analysts is known as “glocalization”—a move to embrace national heritage and local traditions. Austria’s folkloric charm and picturesque scenery have provided a rich source of design inspiration that reflects these values, which have been captured in SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS’ cutting-edge crystal innovations for Fall/Winter 2013/14, driven by four themes:
Two new tones grace the color palette: Light Turquoise recalls Alpine treks and Arctic winters—perfect with earth tones, black and white, and pastels; while exhilarating Crystal Pearl Neoncolors (Orange, Pink and Yellow) project sporty, adrenaline-charged energy. SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS’ latest additions are led by the new Pure Leaf family, its organic faceting suggesting “back to nature” in an exquisitely evocative way; this is in contrast with sleekly graphic newcomer, Victory Pendant, which is lightweight, ultra modern, and fabulous when used in Sixties-style patterns. The BeCharmed Bead assortment has been expanded with delicate Crystal BeCharmed Pearls now available in all shades of Crystal Pearl, Gemcolors and Neon Pearl. Meanwhile, Crystal Fabric—impossibly glamorous with its irresistible platinum shimmer—brings beguiling mystery to a winter’s evening.
A triumph of high-octane creativity, technical wizardry and to-sigh-for crystalline perfection!
