February saw Vangardist spend A Night at Grey Gardens, with photographer Andreas Waldschütz and fashion editor Mirza Sprecakovic, who set the scene with stunning SWAROVSKI CRYSTALLIZED™ jewelry.
The inspiration was Grey Gardens, a cult 1975 film documenting the eccentric and reclusive lives of Jackie O’s aunt and cousin – Big Edie and Little Edie – at their decaying East Hampton mansion. Little Edie’s distinctive style has since become as recognizable as her iconic cousin’s, inspiring designers such as Marc Jacobs and Calvin Klein.
The striking cover of VANGARDIST’s February issue is remarkable for Jayde by Melissa Kandiyoti’s sparkling Fountain brooch worn defiantly by the male model as a bow tie. Inside the brooches are given back to the girls, this time as sassy hair accessories.
Little Edie loved to be centre of attention and the fabulous Disc and Teardrop statement earrings by The Earring Boutique™ are worn for maximum impact. A perfect complement to the striking retro-luxe styling, this is fascinating jewelry that captures Edie’s charismatic ‘I am who I am’ spirit.
Philippe Ferrandis, a name respected throughout the design world, brought an unmistakeable high glamour to the shoot. Known for his spectacular jewelry, designed for strong, independently minded women, pieces from his Maharajah and Glamour collections are dressed to show that style with attitude is about having the confidence to ‘wear it your way’.
