The event that surrounded the unveiling of the windows on November 5, 2011 added a different kind of beat, and whipped Knightsbridge into a carnival atmosphere. A street parade, involving dancers dressed as plum puddings, mannequins suspended from trees, and living, breathing reindeer, among other surreal participants, went down a storm with the crowds.

Luxuries aren’t just for girls who get to go to the ball
Inside, each of the store’s seven floors has its own Crystal Christmas area that expands on the winter wonderland theme. Covetable examples of life’s little (and large) luxuries are on display, from limited editions of food and apparel to decorations and bed linen from a galaxy of classy designers. Azzaro, Frette, Missoni, Givenchy, Barbour and Ladurée are all there, along with the ATELIER SWAROVSKI collection by Rodrigo Otazu, which adds even more knockout glamour to the displays.

Christmases as fabulous as the Harrods/Swarovski interpretation are thin on the ground, so head off to Knightsbridge and catch it while you can. And while you’re there, place a bid on an iconic Harrods green tote bag designed by Erdem and Marios Schwab – bids start at £500, and the winner will be chosen on 24 December. You know you want it... Besides, the proceeds are going to Macmillan Cancer Support, so assuming Lady Luck smiles on you, it’s a win-win all round.
