If you were lucky enough to visit Swarovski’s Sparkling Heritage exhibition at Arumjigi House in Seoul last month you would have been treated to a selection of previously unseen showpieces and stunning couture garments glittering with crystals from Swarovski.
Thanks to a series of photographs by Cho Gi Seok for Vogue Korea, those of us outside Korea are now fortunate to be able to see some of the breathtaking exhibits. One particular collection of fantasy-inspired headpieces is grouped under the title Fairy. As well as exquisite crystallized pieces by the godfather of modern millinery Philip Treacy, among the edit is a high-glam Minetani design inspired by a traditional Korean bridalwear silhouette, its black velvet crown sprouting crystal toadstools. Another head-spinning piece from P by Panache is a reinvention of a traditional man’s hat, which resembles a crown with brass spokes opulently embellished with a dazzling interpretation of a Korean landscape painting. Wow!
