Those lucky enough to be among the 250,000-strong crowd that gathered in Milan’s Duomo Square on June 8 and 9 for “RadioItaliaLive – The Concert” were dazzled not just by the entertainment, but also by two astonishing classic Fender Telecaster Deluxe electric guitars: the sleek Nera (black) and stunning Bianca (white). They had been painstakingly hand-embellished with an eye-popping 14,422 Swarovski crystals, which had taken 180 hours to apply.
The extravaganza marked the kick-off of the fifth edition of the highly anticipated #milanoinnota, Milan’s renowned live music festival, which runs until September. The two-day treat featured nineteen top-flight Italian music stars, including big names such as Biagio Antonacci, Laura Pausini and Marco Mengoni, each of whom autographed the guitars. At the end of June, the instruments were auctioned on www.charitystars.com with proceeds going to the “Alice for Children” projects by Twins International, the excellent NGO founded in 2007 to help feed and educate disadvantaged and vulnerable children in Kenya.
The funds that were raised equated to an incredible 35 years of support for a family, which goes to show what can be achieved through a magical combination of high-end design and the power of music.
