Fashion entrepreneurship would seem to be in British-born, Dubai-based Zarah Amira’s blood: “I grew up surrounded by it. At just ten years of age I was dressing the shop windows in my dad’s stores and trying to style the women in the fitting rooms,” she recalls with a grin. She says her own style would get lots of attention, explaining, “I’m never afraid to try something new.” So she launched her own online clothing store. The blog followed as a way to reach and inspire women and was soon picking up thousands of followers, even bagging her an ‘InstaStar 2016’ from Grazia. It’s clear that success has come partly because she goes out of her way to talk to her readers personally. Another reason is her eclectic style, always underpinned with classic glamour: “Red lipstick and crystal jewelry are my go-to,” she reveals. It’s a tip that has stood her in good stead since becoming a blogger made her a creative director, stylist, photographer, editor and writer all in one. “No fashion blogger will upload an unedited photo, but it doesn’t mean they’re fake. Editing enhances a picture so that it can entertain as well as inform.” You’ll have to go to Snapchat to meet her more true-to-life, charmingly goofy self!
