Despite being a tomboy when she was growing up with her two brothers, Iranian-Emirati Zahra Lyla always loved to express her feminine side creatively. It led to a freelance career as a graphic designer, while she blogged about fashion for fun in her spare time. In 2014 she completed her Masters degree, just in time for her blog to go stratospheric—it’s now a fully-fledged business. But before we get carried away with the fairy tale, Zahra points out: “Because a blog is quite easy to set up people don’t take it seriously. However, it takes a lot of time and effort to keep it running successfully as a business. It’s more than taking pretty pictures.” It’s true that this talented fashionista wouldn’t be working with the likes of Cartier and Lancôme, or interviewing Christopher Bailey of Burberry and Lanvin’s ex-creative director Alber Elvaz, if she weren’t dedicated and driven. And that’s before we factor in what it took to win Blogger of the Year at the Grazia Style Awards!
