It’s a match made in heaven: Oscar de la Renta and Cadenzza

High-end fashion captured classily on film is always a joy—and the spectacular results of a recent TV campaign showcasing Cadenzza and Oscar de la Renta are decidedly pleasing.

The luxury fashion jewelry retailers joined forces with the mighty New York label late last year to create ‘Handpicked’, the first in a series of TV spots shown in Austria.

The shoot—with esteemed director Fabien Constant at the helm—took place at the Spring/Summer 2016 Oscar de la Renta Fashion Show in New York, perfectly expressing the edgy excitement and intensity of the catwalk, with additional filming in Vienna at the opulent Palais Liechtenstein. Known for his ‘Mademoiselle C’ documentary, which focused on famed fashion editor Carine Roitfeld, Constant has worked with an impressive roll call of musicians and celebrities that includes Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé and Naomi Watts.

The impossibly glamorous storyline follows a chic Cadenzza trend expert: magpie-like, she collects and curates the most alluring fashion jewelry pieces from runways, studios and showrooms across the world, then carefully delivers them to Cadenzza stores. Next, we see a beautiful customer choosing from the stunning and unusual pieces in store, then leaving, delighted with her purchase.

Featuring the flawless faces of French model Laura Malvarosa and South African-born Denni Parkinson—who, between them, have notched up campaigns for Hermès, Vogue, Abercrombie & Fitch, Air France and Agent Provocateur—the movie beautifully defines the different facets of the modern, empowered woman.

Two versions have been produced, with the shorter film offering a tantalizing glimpse into the stylish world of Cadenzza, while the longer format doubles as a compelling brand movie, celebrating new trends side by side with timeless pieces. Both will be available across online channels.

Approaching the jewelry universe through the two women’s stories is intriguing, says Constant: “It made me think about a famous quote from Diana Vreeland: ‘The eye has to travel’. So does the trend expert: she travels the world to bring back the very best in fashion jewels.”
