There were more photo ops than you could shake a selfie stick at when the fashion glitterati arrived for the British Fashion Awards on November 23. The London Coliseum—one of the capital’s most lavish theatres and home to the English National Opera and English National Ballet—sparkled as a galaxy of stars and celebrities rivaled Swarovski crystals for out-there brilliance. This is the second year that the crystal maison has partnered with the prestigious award, and its commitment to the industry was evident. Red-carpet moments took place against a crystal-blitzed Swarovski logo—which weighing in at a staggering 12kg—under the radiant Science and Fiction chandelier by Basso & Brooke. Catching the camera lenses were Karlie Kloss, wearing an Atelier Swarovski SS16 bracelet; Poppy Delevigne, in a crystallized dress by Swarovski Collective member Emilia Wickstead; and Sarah Jane Crawford, who wore pieces from 2015 New Establishment Winner Mary Katrantzou’s AW11 collection for Atelier Swarovski.
Big congratulations go to current Swarovski Collective member Thomas Tait, who won Emerging Womenswear Designer. He takes home one of this year’s British Fashion Awards trophies, designed by the BFC with creative agency Music, and handcrafted in Austria from solid crystal. Other highlights included a shimmering Swarovski crystal curtain. But the most fun may have been at the Swarovski ‘selfie station’, where phone-toting guests were lit by the spectacular standing Cascade piece by Vincent van Duysen! It’s hard to imagine how next year will top 2015 for glamour.
