Wow. WOW! Over seven million crystals sparkled at Bergdorf Goodman’s exclusive cocktail reception and big window reveal on November 16. The party was in honor of the holiday partnership between Swarovski and NYC’s iconic store, and the surroundings could not have been more spectacular. Playing with the theme ‘Brilliant’ holiday, the famous 5th Avenue windows celebrate Swarovski’s 120th anniversary and the launch of a sumptuous new Rizzoli coffee table book, which chronicles the dramatic highlights of the crystal maison’s history.
The five custom-themed windows are: ‘The Crown Jewels’ with crystallized suits of armor and life-size lions set within a giant red velvet jewel box; ‘The Crystal Cavern’, a prismatic amethyst cave; and ‘The Crystal Ball’, a fortune-teller’s lair. ‘The Treasure Chest’, a monumental sculpture of Neptune encrusted with Swarovski pearls, shares the spotlight with sea creatures and a mermaid. It’s the central window that truly pushes the creative boundaries, however: entitled ‘The Birthday Party’, it’s set in a festive ballroom and incorporates crystals into the furnishings, wallpaper, chandeliers, oversize party favors, a giant guitar, and a set of twelve birthstone cakes.
Hosted by Nadja Swarovski and Linda Fargo, the glittering roster of guests shone as brilliantly as the windows: Models Michaela Kocianova and Linda Vojtová, together with fashion influencers TK Quann, Cipriana Quann and Jamie Beck, wore Atelier Swarovski. Then there was style legend Iris Apfel, who was spotted alongside fashion faces Fern Mallis, CD Greene and Lynn Yaeger, among many others.
Visit Bergdorf Goodman this holiday season and you’ll also enjoy Crystal Palace decorations by luminaries such as Tord Boontje, Yves Béhar and D.B. Kim throughout the store. Plus, there’s the new jewelry Salon—get that gift list ready now!
