“If you're young and talented, it's like you have wings.” So said contemporary Japanese writer Haruki Murakami, perfectly expressing the focus this month: the flowering of the newest crop of emerging design talent. We applaud the young winners who made such an impact at four prestigious competitions: International Talent Support in Trieste, ANDAM in Paris, Festival International de Mode et de Photographie in Hyères, and i-SKOOL in Berlin. We also meet young designers Sophie Connolly from Australia and Francesca Schranz from Italy, both of whom impressed with first collections created while still at college.
