Setting the global benchmark for fabulous home furnishing, Salone del Mobile—Milan’s celebrated showcase for the latest in Italian design—has been putting the dazzle into décor since 1961. On the not-to-be-missed-list this year we found a veritable feast:
Prestige lighting brand Beby Italy channeled Art Deco allure through a ravishing two-tier chandelier shimmering with Swarovski pendants in the new Lilac effect, together with an ultra-glam thirty-light chandelier in rose gold that glittered with crystal drops.
Bugatti maintained its dazzling reputation with a range of crystallized kitchen appliances. Custom crystal combinations were offered, but it was the Vera kettle and Volo toaster gleaming with Silver Aurora Borealis and Red Siam crystals that drew the most admiring glances.
Another Salone hot tip was Sahrai’s astonishingly beautiful capsule collection of rugs entitled ‘Sparkles’. Available in gold or silver, this is crystal-strewn floor-art to have you literally walking on light.
In the bathroom, Fratelli Frattini’s crystal-handled ‘Suite’ collection harked back to old-world opulence, while Webert’s exquisite Opera faucets took inspiration from Italy’s cultural heritage to create haute ‘art furnishing’ that’s at once ornate and yet surprisingly modern. Offering a more pared-back style set with glinting crystal inserts, the Zuchetti Kos stand showed off the latest additions to its refined Agorà collection.
Opinion Ciatti’s clean-lined Mammamia Diamond chair, with its crystal-studded back, continued the poetic synthesis of past and present, while Mirabello’s luxury bed linens, bearing names such as Precious Rose and Classic Jewels, sparkled with vintage romance.
