TREND REPORT EYEWEAR FOR ICONS

‘The Marilyn’ is oh, so Monroe!

If there’s one lady who sums up sassy allure, it’s iconic blonde bombshell Marilyn Monroe. Now it’s our chance to get a classically fashionable hit of her ‘specs appeal’ thanks to a new range of fabulous retro eyewear.

Marilyn Monroe Eyewear

The Marilyn Monroe™ Sun and Optical glasses collection are the newest shades in town: retro and smoking-hot, they marry the mystique of old Hollywood with up-to-the-minute modernity.

Launched exclusively by Allure Eyewear and Authentic Brands Group this spring, every must-have pair is inspired by arguably the most radiant, gorgeous goddess of them all. The quintessential Sixties silhouettes come in four elegant styles, which each reflect a different aspect of the legendary actress’s unique charisma and style.

Featuring sexy, cat’s eye-shaped, classic frames and funky, square-pattern details, each style glitters in the sunshine with subtle sweeps of crystals from Swarovski. There’s also a variety of colors to suit all tastes, from racy shades of red and playful pink, to more sophisticated hues of blue, tortoiseshell, and beige.

The highlight of the collection for Ms Monroe’s diehard fans is the limited-edition eponymous model, ‘The Marilyn’, recalling the sassy starlet at the height of her considerable powers in Some Like it Hot. In honor of her birthday on June 1, 1926, keen collectors will be glad to hear that the 926-piece collection will have its limited-edition number etched in gold, with the upswept frame made from a multilayered, customized material that twinkles with a dusting of 126 crystals.

It’s all perfectly in tune with the electricity that was generated by the Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend singer, famous for the stunning gown encrusted with Swarovski crystals that she wore in 1962 to sing Happy Birthday to President Kennedy. And as well as guaranteeing instant glamour, ‘The Marilyn’ eyewear ensures that you’ll be doing your bit for an excellent cause: Allure Eyewear will donate all profits to Hollygrove, the orphanage where Marilyn Monroe lived as a child, which is now part of EMQ Families First, the California-based non-profit agency dedicated to children and families recovering from trauma, addiction and abuse.

‘The Marilyn’ Limited Edition Sunglass retails at $495; the ‘Silver Screen Collection’ from $98–$168; the ‘Optical Collection’ from $150-$180. Shop here!
