It’s the ultimate in glamorous diary dates and the undisputed highlight of the European season—the glittering Vienna Opera Ball.
Although faithful to the format set in 1935, the ball combines the Viennese lifestyle with international allure, and is attended by celebrities, tycoons, politicians, and bright-eyed debutantes and their beaux, who waltz their way around the State Opera House’s ballroom to music by the famous Vienna State Opera Orchestra.
On February 27, the debutantes marked their entry into society attired in white ballgowns set off with a beautiful bespoke Swarovski crystal crown created by award-winning British jeweler and Swarovski collaborator, Stephen Webster. His show-stopping 2014 Fly by Night tiara, unveiled at the end of January, is pure, magical romance with a contemporary edge. Inspired by ‘nocturnal, winged creatures found within fairytale forests,’ the dramatic diadems glow with thousands of Swarovski crystals, bathing the radiant dancers in halos of sparkling light as they step onto the dance floor.
