Naomi Campbell, Helena Christensen, Yasmin Le Bon, Cindy Crawford and Eva Herzigova reunite for Duran Duran’s new music video, ‘Girl Panic!’, in association with SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS.

You could be forgiven for thinking it was filmed twenty years ago: the five supermodels look just as they did then, untouched by time. In a witty subversion of gender roles, Swedish director Jonas Åkerlund has transformed the five into the boys from the band for his ‘Girl Panic!’ video. Naomi Campbell plays lead singer (“My name’s Simon Le Bon – I’m the front man for Duran Duran”, she says to camera), clutching a microphone encrusted with SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS. Helena Christensen is Roger Taylor and Cindy Crawford is John Taylor, while Eva Herzigova is Nick Rhodes. In a quirky addition, Simon’s wife Yasmin Le Bon completes the line-up as Dom Brown, the guitarist who joined in 2006.

Åkerlund cleverly filmed through a Swarovski Crystal Curtain, portraying a stylized, romantic notion of rock ‘n’ roll, where everything and everyone drips glitz, glamour and indulgence awash with crystals. The women gleam in couture from the likes of Giles and Balmain, with footwear from Christian Louboutin and Gianmarco Lorenzi, jewelry from Ted Rossi, Philippe Audibert and Hely Designs, plus Philippe Ferrandis, Prabal Gurung and Michael Kaplan for ATELIER SWAROVSKI.

Stills from the video give Harper’s Bazaar its dazzling December cover, as well as the most drop-dead glamorous feature to be seen in a magazine for a long time.

Going to such lengths is normal for Duran Duran: once called “the prettiest boys in rock”, they have always drawn on fashion expertise to cultivate their image. It’s the perfect partnership – a fusion of talent and beauty, history and artistry, creativity and glorious extravagance ablaze with SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS.
