Traditional clothing and textiles represent a style that is eternal, and not especially responsive to trends in the global garment sector. Nonetheless, new techniques and interpretations are adapted to redefine traditions, which preserve the essence of heritage and yet keep in step with the demands of today’s consumers across all cultures.



For the fifth year, Swarovski has partnered with the outstanding Jakarta-based design school, ESMOD, to put on the ESMOD Fashion Festival 2011. It will be remembered for the students’ creativity in using Swarovski crystals and the sparkling originality of their designs. Unconstrained by a theme this year, 50 participants created extraordinary outfits, with a shortlist of 15 shown at the Fashion Festival on June 22, 2011. The winner, Donna Elora Muliawan, received Rp 3 million; 1st runner-up Fatati Nur Diana, Rp 2million; with 2nd runner-up, Therisia Law, and Merit Award recipient, Eridani, Rp 1million each. All four were also given an assortment of glittering Swarovski crystals.
